The dark strong waves come straight at the beach,
The sound of the water makes me want to stretch out and reach,
The beautiful grooves that it makes on the sand,
But it rushes back again quickly smoothing out the land,
There are no marks left on the beach.
The rush of the waves just keep returning in force,
They are strong and steady and seldom change their course,
Try, try, try again, is the lesson they teach,
But the beautiful etching on the face of the beach,
Continue to remain out of my reach!

Deepak Menon and I, in effect, did believe and preach
That there's an undercurrent
o'poetry in your speech
No, no, there's none, I'm just a writer of prose, u'd screech
Ab dekho logo, ek nayi kaviyatri aa gayi hai hamare beech!
Dear Varsha and KBSB too
I am impressed by the wonderful intonations of the great poem Varsha has written and equally so in the very well rhymed multilingual poetic reply by KBS to your poem.
And he is absolutely right - there was always poetry in you and it manifested itself in beautiful descriptive prose on your blogs during your travels .. and finally it has manifested itself in great poetry too!!
'Tis the thought that matters and your thought here is really very deep - it is nostalgic and touched by a strange melancholy - the description of the sands being washed clean on the beach made me reflect on the memories of the past which are continually washed away by the daily waves of "Time" ... and that is our life ...
Always keep writing Varsha .. I bet TN was in a deeply reflective mood after reading it!
