An enigma-that is life.

Often I wonder what life is all about,
I wonder and wander and look all around,
The hills, the rivers, the sun and the moon,
Will they give me advise which is sound?

The brook keeps  meandering swiftly on its way,
The river goes ever so rapidly without a say,
The waves keep beating at the coast,
Water remains still within the bay.

The sun and the moon do not stray,
They keep following the same way,
Just a little away, as the seasons change,
Yet the trajectory remains without a sway,

I keep returning to the same crossroad,
Which way do I go, which turn do I choose,
Is life supposed to travel the much trampled beaten path,
Or should I  choose my own incongruous way?

What do I do? where do I go?
What do I choose or just let it go,
Drifting along with the winds and the tide,
What I wonder is life all about!

SUPERB ! Your poem seems to suggest that life is all about making choices and then staying the course ...

Dinesh Kalpathy, " It certainly is an enigma. The poem itself is beautiful. When life itself is not a challenge, you can afford to challenge life!"

Manju Iyengar, " Being alone ,is not a bad thing necessarily. We need solitude sometimes.Varsha I'm sure would understand that. The Buddha too needed solitude to attain enlightenment! Wondering what Alexander felt when returning home (which of course he never did) .Lets speculate. For one thing we know that his men were tired of fighting ,particularly in India's Malarial jungles. That he himself died of Malarial fever is chronicled by the Greeks. But a clue to his thoughts could be contained in the famous legend that Alexander when nearing death was supposedly said to have told his followers. That at his funeral his body be carried with arms outstretched .Thus the world would know that for all his conquests Alexander the great was going as empty handed as he came into the world! I like to think that such philosophy was the result of his discourse with Indian Rishis and thinkers.Greek records mention Alexander holding a conclave with Indian philosophers! Alexander was also a disciple of Aristotle after all.
